Four Parliamentary By-Elections Due

Intentional Delay Seen To Use Reformed Vote

London, Sept. 10.

There are four Parliamentary by-elections pending at Oxford, Walsall, the Dartford Division of Kent, and the Doncaster Division of Yorkshire.

It lies with the Whips of the parties to whom the deceased representatives belonged to notify the vacancies to the Speaker, who would then issue^the necessary writs, but no move has yet been made.

The political correspondents of newspapers therefore assume that the party organisers are desirous of delaying the polling until after the new Register of Voters comes into operation on October 15, and conclude that all four contests are likely to be decided between that date and the reopening of Parlia-through Reuter, ment on November 1.—Wirel
