0 very large club margins were produced in the League matches which were played yesterday, although both the Yangtszepoo Bowling Club and the Clube Lusitano were very successful in League points each taking five and leaving their opponents, the Shanghai Lawn Bowls Club 'Red' and the Junior Golf Club respectively, with one. In the Recreation Club gained 4% points and their opponents, the Hongkew Golf Club, 1%.
On the Lawn Bowls Club greens the Yangiszepoo Bowling Club won by 85 shots to 76 against the 'Reds', gaining three rinks. Taking an average run of the game, play was fairly even but' there were one or two disasters. E. R, Harmer of the 'Reds' took at the 7th, 9th, 10th and 11th ends and completed his run with a 3 at the 12th, Apparently not satisfied with this he produced a 5 at the 20th, winning his game with the biggest margin of the match, 33-1 2.7E. Harvey, the Y.B.C. skip in another rink, did his best by way of retaliation. He took the first end and lost the second after which he added to his score at every end until the 12th, including a 4 at the 10th. As a coup de grace he closed the play with a 5 on the 21st, winning 25-9.
W. A. Bailey and W. J. Monk had a. more even contest. Monk was 4 shots ahead at the 10th, 9-5, and play was level at the 12th after which Bailey came along with a couple of fours, one at the 13th and then at the 15th, which altered matters considerably. Again, a 5 was scored at the final end, this time by Bailey who came out on top with 28 shots to 18.
A. Cheetham and R. Baldwin had a much closer game, being 9-all at the 10th and 15-14 in favour of the Y.B.C. at the 1th. Between then and the end of play Cheetham took 7 shots and Baldwin 2, leaving the former the victor by 22 to 16 shots. remaining match the Shanghai with the afternoon's highes score of shots, and the game.
