Rumours Described As "Fantastic"
Rome, Feb, 19.
All rumours about the incident near the Villa Torlonia, Signor Mussolini's residence, on February 14 are described in the second official communique on the subject as fantastic.
Two shots were alleged to have been fired at a detective outside the Villa Torlonia, but, according to the first communique the report arose out of an incident caused by a madman who m shots into the Viano Mentanà, which runs near Signor Mussolini's residence. The second communique also terms rumours of mass arrests "tendencious."
Despite the reassuring nature of the two statements, the Roman public still somewhat excited about the affair. An unconfirmed rumour alleges that the arrested man revealed' ihe names of would-be accomplices in a carefully planned attempt on Signor Mussolini's life, and consequently many alleged anti-Fascist terrorists in various parts of the {country have been arrested.—Reuter.
