Reds Lose Immunity

The Chamber of Deputies yesterday afternoon approved, by a vote of raised hands, a motion to cancel the immunity of eleven former Communist Deputies who recently participated in a new Workers' and Peasants Party. Six of the eleven escaped and sought refuge from the authorities when the Communist party was outlawed upon the outbreak of war. The six included Florimond Bonte, who was arrested yesterday morning after creating an incident in the Chamber; Jean Monmousseau, Gabriel Peri and Arthur Ramette.

Communist deputies, although their party legally ceased to exist, nevertheless enjoyed immunity as long as the Chamber was in session and their old mandates were not invalidated by [the Chamber. Now all are open to arrest.—Havas.
