At a meeting of the General Committee of the Fund, held on December 4, a cabled appeal from the Navy League for funds for comforts and men in H.M.'s Navy was considered. it was decided the mark Shanghai's appreciation of the gallantry of the complement of the Auxiliary Cruiser Rawalpindi, by remitting £500 for Naval comforts. The vessel was well known out here, and it is believed that among those who participated in the action against the German pocket battleship, and lost their lives were several R.NR. Executive Officers, and the vessel's Engineers. It is therefore felt to be appropriate the Shanghai should display its admiration of the conduct of officers and men in this unequal engagement, in a tangible form.
