Mr. W. A. Hogarth stated that the incoming committee should endeavour to assure themselves that their actions would not bring unwarranted repercussions as between the Council and the Japanese or "Ta Tao" authorities. Such action would make it more difficult for the Council to improve conditions. It would be a wise step, he added, if members were to talk over the various questions with the SMC, before bringing them up at the Ratepayers' Meeting.
In reply the Chairman stated that the Association would endeavour not to embarrass the Council in its dealings with other authorities. He added that it would confine itself as far as possible to constructive sug-questions to the Council.
The committee was then elected as follows: Messrs. N. F. Allman, L. Basset, J.T.W. Broke, A. W. Buck, W. Davis, J. B. Ethrington, Frithjof Hoenhnke, L. E. Hudec, J. R. Jones, G. E. Matthews, W. Mellor, David Toeg, Commdr. J. M.
