Kiangsi, Mar. 23.
In a lightning advance through stoutly defended territory, Japanese forces operating along the south western edge of Lake Poyang, ye: terday evening captured Fengsin, 50 kilometres west of Nanchang.
The seizure of this town represented a 50-kilometre progress in two days, the Japanese forces having crossed the Siu River, west of Yungsiu on the Kiukiang-Nanchang Railway on Monday evening.
Anyi, principal town between Yungsiu and Fengsin, was captured by this Japanese column earlier yesterday afternoon.
The rapidity of the Japanese advance did not allow the Chinese, retreating to the south-west, to destroy the highway bridge spanning the Feng River, flowing into Lake Poyang from the south to the north.
The seizure of Anyi cut off the retreat of their Chinese troops remaining in the Feng and Siu river
