"The Times" Believes Sig. Mussolini Gives France Opportunity London, Mar. 27.
Il Duce's speech has created an opportunity for a settlement between France and Italy, while maintaining Italy's connection with Germany, "The Times" stated this morning, commenting on the speech made in Rome yesterday by Signor Mussolini.
"Il Duce is ready and willing to make friends with France provided that he can obtain reasonable concessions from her. Still at the same time he insures Italy's connection with Germany," the paper declared.
According to the papers diplo-marie correspondent, "Il Duce's speech is being closely examined in Whitehall. The general opinion is guarded, but at first reading it is felt not to have increased—perhaps even here and there to have straightened out—the tangles of the European situation,"—Havas.
