Headquarters Police Also Seize Opium and Pipes Seventeen Chinese were arrested by members of the S.M.P. Headquarters Narcctic Section yesterday forenoon in a raid on House 1, Lane 14 Kiangse Road, near Avenue Edward VIL The place was described as an important distributing centre for opium, operated in conjunction with a smoking-den. All those arrested were men, and eleven of them were said to be concerned in the operation of the place, while the remaining six were alleged patrons.
Det.-Sergt. H. F. Gill when he entered the establishment with Chinese detectives at 10 o'clock, also seized about 6% Ib. of smoking opium, four opium pipes, four opium lamps and other paraphernalia used by addicts, The seventeen men arrested will be brought before the First Special District Court today.
