Stock prices rallied today from fractions to two points on an increased volume of trading, with steels, motors and aviations leading the advance. The upturn came after the London and Paris markets registered a firmer tone. Additional factors to the rise were: apparent easing of war tension; reports of tax relief; strength of some commodities, notably world sugar futures, which made new highs today. The list advanced irregularly the opening and then continued to rise for some considerable time. However, there was a tendency to 8% drift lower in the early afternoon, but when no pressure appeared the market resumed its advance later.
