London, Jan. 3.
The report that M. Stalin is to ask Hour Hitler for 200000 German technicians to re-organize and re-plan Russia's industry and economy was the subject of considerable comment in the press here this morning, most of the papers believing it io be untrue.
It was stressed that Germany herself needs all her specialists, and that Soviet Russia's present situation is not so desperate as to make her openly admit her economic baukruptcy.
Some papers deviated slightly from the main subject and gave their opinion of the present relations between Berlin and Moscow. They stress that, contrary to the situation prevailing a month ago, M. Stalin now finds himself playing second fiddle to Her Hitler owing to the failure of his Finnish campaign. The Fuehrer, says the "Daily Herald," is fully aware that he is the senior partner and M. Stalin the junior. This situation has caused the Nazis to make it somewhat clearer to the Russians that they are expected to pay a higher price than they have paid so far for their share in Poland and the Baltic states—Havas.
