Honolulu, Nov. 9.
A stray iceberg spparen'ly is cruising the warm waters of the Pacific, between Midway Island and Honolulu, the crew of the Philippine Clipper reported today.
The iceberg was first sighted floating at Latitude 28. The Captain of ihe Clipper, which was cruising at 10,000 feet, believed that it might be a steamer floating upside down, with the waves breaking over the top. He descended to 1,000 feet, however, and inspected it with his binoculars, definitely determining that it was an iceberg.
The iceberg was about 100 feet by 200 feet, projecting 20 or 30 feet above the waves. Several birds were also sighted on the berg.
Hydrographic experts were mystic fied by the report and were at first inclined to believe the iceberg was in reality a sandbag or reef. Members of the Clipper crew were positive in their identification, however.
Old-time residents of Honolulu vaguely recall a story that an iceberg was once sighted off Diamond Head.—United Press.
