President Roosevelt received Mr. Anthony Eden, former British Foreign Secretary, for a 40-minute interview this morning in the presence of Mr, Sumner Welles. State Under-Secretary.
Mr. Eden refused to disclose the subjects discussed.
There were several hundred people gathered outside the White House when Mr, Eden came out and climbed into his car to return to the British Embassy.
Before seeing President Roosevelt, he had a 15-minute meeting with Welles, in the State Department. The Under-Secretary then accompanied him to the White House.
