More Games in London Parks

Londoners have long enjoyed excellent facilities for watching games. A determined effort is to be made this summer to increase opportunities for active participation in sport for all those who want to join in. Experts have been engaged to give free tuition in a variety of games and sports, including some of the lesser known ones such as stoolball, netball and throwing the javelin The London County Council is cooperating with the National Fitness Committee in a grand open-air "keep fit" drive. Londoners whose tastes are for the less strenuous pastimes will be offered facilities for open-air draughts on six-feet square boards. Squares are made of coloured tiles and the "pieces," consisting of large circles of wood, are moved into position by means of long poles.
