Readers Approve Use of Chinese Paper; Proved! Useful for Wrapping Up Goods, Parcels

Chungking, Feb. 28.

Shortage of newsprints owing to the Sino-Japanese hostilities and the European war has brought about 2n unique situation in the newspaper world here. Forced to take drastic measures, some Chinese newspaper' are publishing in green, yellow and pink newsprints, mostly produced in Szechuen province.

Only two of the leading newspapers here are appearing in imported white newsprints. Even\the "Central Daly News," official organ of the Chinese Government, is affected by the shor}- age of imported paper. It is appearing: in pink native newsprints. Another "pink paper" is the "Ta Kung Pao," influential independent daily.

The "Hsin Hua Jih Pao," official organ of the Chinese Communist Party, prints. on green native. paper. Yet another colour of newsprint is used by the independent "Hsin Min Pao," which is publishing in yellow native newsprint.

Subscribers have no complaints to make, for they find that the coloured newsprints make attractive wrapping papet.—Reuter.
