Last night marked the close of the competition in the Ladies' Division of the Badminton League when the last two encounters were played off, resulting in two overwhelming victories with the Country Club emerging victorious by 9-0 at the expense of the Union Church while the C.S.F. triumphed by 8-1 over the Country Club "B", both the winning teams playing away.
Though the Country Club seniors won the division title last week, their latest win of 9-0 has increased the record to a fine one of 66 sets out of a possible 72. This achievement is undoubtedly the best out of the three divisions, as the leaders in the other two sections had had to concede eight sets each. The C.S.F. "A" wind up in second place with 50 games to their credit.
By snatching one game from the C.S.F. "A", the Country Club "B" has dodged the ignominy of the cellar position, which is now occupied by the Union Church team. The latter were tied with the Country Club second team last week at the bottom of the division but they could not do better than submit to a 9-0 defeat at the hands of the Country Club first-stringers. last. night.
