Students Angers at Action Over Professors

A storm of protest raging last week among students of Tung Wen University over the unexplained dismissal of six professors at the institution, had subsided yesterday as Mr. Kuwataro Baba, Vice-President of the University, handed in his resignation, according to the "'Tairiku Shimpo."

The students presented the faculty On March 2 with a six-point list of demands asking for reasons behind the successive resignations of Mr. Fumio Hozumi; Mr. Katsuzo Fukuda, Mr, Naosáku Uchida; Mr. Toshiaki Matsui; Mr. Ho A. Moku, of Formosan Parentage; and Mr. Takashi Kageyama, a Shanghai dialect authority.

Unless an answer from university authorities proved satisfactory, students threatened not to attend gradual tion exercises last Sunday. However, after Mr. Baba's announcement of his intention to resign, students proceeded with graduation ceremonies, and on Monday, Mr. Baba handed his resignation to Mr. Yozo Ouchi, President of the University.

A graduate of Tung Wen University, Mr. Baba has been an important member of the faculty for 24 years, according to the "Tairiku Shimpo."
