The delayed transportation: caused damage io goods. While merchants in the interior anxiously were waiting for the goods they ordered Shanghai interior anxiously were waiting for merchants and shipping interests felt inconvenient to send any more cargo to Haiphong.
Trade Leaders Confer To settle this problem discussions are reported to have recently been held between the chairman of the French Chamber of Commerce in Indo-China and Mr. Ho Shih-kwang, chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Hongkong and some other Shanghai merchants.—As a Tesult of these discussions they decided to form a Sino-French transportation company. The report states that new routes will be utilized to relieve the congestion on the French Indo-China railway lines. It would appear that they will not find a solution of the problem in Haiphong itself where, according to previous reports, no space can be found for building big new godowns.
