March 30; 3rd round—April 6. Semifinals by April 13 and final on April 20. being retrieved from almost impossible positions, Cumine was very much to the fore in the first two games and was able to take a two-game lead, but in the third game, every point was fought out the score mounting from 7-2 in Wade's favour to 8-8, and 9-9, with Cumine coming up strongly, and although he had a service in hand in the crucial game, he made a faulty service and lost the hand in to give Wade the opportunity he wanted, and the latter went on to win. The fourth game saw Wade in the aggressive stance and he won easily, with Cumine reserving hus strength for the final game. But Wade had got his eye in completely and Cumine could not withstand him, so that last year's champion went on to win at 9-3.

Neugebauer defeated G. W. Morris by 9-10, 9-1, 9-6, 9-2, the former coming up strongly after having lost the first game. Morris was unable to maintain his aggressive play of the first game in the second, third and fourth, and Neugebauer was much stronger than his opponent.

R. B. Gotch has dropped out of competitive squash since the league was completed and therefore scratched his entry to J, L. Berglof. His nonparticipation is to be regretted as he is a very fine player and would have gone a long way towards winning the competition.
