To the Editor of the "Norti-Cuma Dany News"
Sm—It is scarcely necessary for me to refute the assertion recently made by one of your correspondents, HEP, that I had made recommendations as to the disposition of the Russian Regiment.
Incidentally H.FP's letter is a magnificent example of preferring to have the other fellow's ox gored. But most of your readers will probably recall that I made no recom~ mendations whatever as to the Russian Regiment and this perhaps requires a word of amplification.
Should I, or indeed any other Ratepayer, presume to say that the Council should do this or do that, this is officially construed as tantamount to asserting that the Council does no' know all the right answers concerning its business!
Now the undeniable fact is that a majority of Council always do know the right answers!
However, if a certain line of action matter be publicly due to peculiar Council it particular line of to become anathema and any other course is to be preferred and followed by the Council regardless of the cost to the Ratepayers.
I merely mention this little hint, which was passed along to me by an old China Hand, so that all would-be reformers of the Council who care to, might benefit by it and so avoid appearing so guileless as to imagine that the Council would deign to recognize any mere Ratepayer's suggestion.
