A well-merited distinction was conferred upon thirty-seven Chinese members of the Shanghai Fire Brigade yesterday when Mr. C. S. Franklin, Chairman of the Municipal Council, presented them with S.F.B. Long Service Medals in recognition of terms ranging from twenty to thirty years in the Council's employ, The ceremony was held at Bubbling Well Fire Station. Mr. Franklin inspected the assembled fire officers and men, who were under the charge of Capt, H. G. Reed, Chief Officer, and Mr. W. Charters, Deputy Chief. The x divisions of the Settlement Brigade and the Workshops all were represented in the lines of men who received medals.

Tokyo Police Seek Would-Be Assassin Tokyo, Oct. 5.
Police today continued an intensive search for the gunman who yesterday fired two pistol shots at Mr. Chikuhei Nakajima, Japanese" aeroplane king" and leader of one of the two factions in the Seiyukai political party.
The would-be assassin opened fire at the car in which Mr. Nakajima was riding on his way home at about 8.20 o'clock last night, Two bullets penetrated the front fender, but none of the passengers in the car was harmed.
