Hungjao Area

Resident's Complaints

[To the Editor of the "Nowru-Cutxa Dany News"

'Si—With all the joys of living in tre "country "and the approach" of spring it is about time the residents jor the Hungjao Area formed themselves into a "Hungjso Residents' Association" and appointed someone to Hook after their interests.

It is true there is a Hungjao Area JAssociation, but as the Secretary is a non-resident and most of the mem= bers are those who wish to play golf, polo and take a walk or ride in the istrict, the Interests of the residents themselves are sadly neglected.

To give you a few examples: Last [Saturday was a Japanese holiday, no notice was given to the residents and when several of them went to get "late passes," they had to leave empty Jnanded, as the Pass Office was closed. {it is ne the Secretary managed to get la few for those he knew had applied, but what about the others? Surely some notice might have been given 10 [say the office would be closed.

Another very serious thing Is that [members must have their servants [passes renewed once a month, but Fnon-residents who apply through a Settlement Police Station or through their Consulates can get a pass for their chauffeurs, drivers and other servants for six months. Can anyone explain' why this difference {favour of non-residents What Is required is a little service, jand as we are of an international ature, we could all join together and task some German oF Italian member who is not too busy a man to take on [the job of Resident Secretary at a ]small remuneration and Tam sure we would get_more time and attention paid to our small wants.

1 wonder it any notice will be given members as 10 how many days {the Pass Office in Lincoln Avenue will be closed due' to the. forthcoming [Chinese holidays and whether with the approach of warmer weather any~ thing' is. being done to have the 7 o'clock curfew lifted and whether or not Fesidents will be allowed to stay fous after 10 pin. and not be bothered with always having to go and beg for a "late pass." We have beer [promised this for ages, but we want action not promises.
