Washington, Oct. 31.
HE Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, again expressed concern yesterday over the fate of the crew of the American freighter City of Flint, seized recently by a German prize crew. He said every possible step was being taken to contribute to the safety of the American seamen.
Mr. Hull did not elaborate on the steps being taken by the American Government but it was believed the United States might send a sharp protest to the Soviet Union. The protest, it was believed, would charge Russia with at least violation of the spirit of pledges given the United States when American recognition of the Soviet Union was extended in 1933.
State Department officials have expressed great dissatisfaction with the manner in which the Soviet Union handled the City of Flint affair after the American ship and crew had been taken to a Soviet port by the Germans.
