More Expensive Clubs

Londoners are not so club-minded as they were before the War. Instead of belonging to three or four clubs most of us now let one suffice, and not infrequently grumble that club life is making greater demands on our pocket. There is an all-round tendency for subscriptions to rise, ana the reasons are not far to seek.

Expenses are mounting and in many instances catering revenue has dropped. Club dining-rooms, busy at lunch-time, are practically empty in the evening. Nowadays many members prefer to dine at restaurants.
