Farmers Sceptical

These difficulties are envisaged in the general assurance which the Government have given, but reports from the counties show that many in the rank and file of farmers are still sceptical about the returns they will actually receive for corn and other produce. Wheat is only one of the crops which farmers grow, and in many parts of the country not the most important, but the wheat price is widely taken as a criterion of farming values. It is true that the price fixed {or fat pigs has already been raised and the price for fat sheep is also to move upwards. The prices to be fixed for cattle when the Government become the sole buyer have yet to be announced, but the Minister of Agriculture has promised that costs of production will be taken into account and that these prices will be adjusted accordingly.
