New York Stocks

Tuesday's Closing Quotations

New York, Mar. 21.

The apparent easing of the European political tension was reflected in higher stock prices today, the market opening firm and moving irregularly higher in quiet trading. Some attention was given to domestic trade news, which continued generally favourable, but operators maintained a close watch on foreign developments. Sentiment was somewhat more hopeful and it was considered further clarification of the European situation would pave the way for a further recovery. The turnover totalled 690,000 shares.—Reuter.
