Social Whirl

There's not a free moment on the calendar of Colonel J. W. Hornby, retiring commandant of the S. V. C. who is sailing for Home next week.

Among the numerous affairs of the week were the party given by the departing officer for Colonel DeWitt Peck and officers of the U. S. Marines and the affair in his honour by Chinese members of the Council.

On Wednesday, Colonel Hornby and members of the S. V. C. staff, including Lieut-Col G. H. Mann, his successor, were honour guests at the Zero Club weekly reunion.

Other parties for Colonel Hornby included the dinner given by Colonel Peck ani his officers at the Shanghai Club, the cocktail party at which Commandant L. Fabre was host, and the Zero Club dinner party at the Country Club.
