"New York Times" Describes Sinking of Graf Spee New York, Dec. 18.
A graphic account of the sinking of the Graf Spee is contained in the "New York Times" today quoting their Montevideo correspondent.
"Standing on the roof of a Monte-leo hotel," he declares "I saw Capt. Langsdorf and other officers standing at attention in a launch, saluting as they watched their ship go down., "The commander pressed an electric button, as the red of the sun sank below the horizon, dyeing the sky a brilliant red."
"The button was on the end of a long cable leading to a mine planted in the magazine."
"She burned for over an hour," the correspondent concludes, "with explosions continuing to the end"—
