Senator Borah's Views

Senator William E. Borah, isolationist Republican of Idaho, said today that American leaders would be guilty of "stark treason" if they involved the United States in any European war. He denounced the "leaders of all countries" because they "can talk of nothing but war. Constant talk about American intervention in the European control: inevitably will drag us in if comes.

"Examine the war mongers and you will find no one who would be subject to call in time of Most of them are not even subject to paying taxes, We will go to war when our rights are assailed, when our land is invaded or when American interests are involved. But to drag us into a war which is wholly European and Imperialistic would be nothing less than stark treason to the American people."

The statement, made in a copyright interview with the Washington correspondent of the Seattle "Star," wa the second strong appeal for strict American neutrality to come from the ran Idaho isolationist in 24 hours.

Yesterday he denounced European Democracies as "treaty spoilsman" and advised American youth to deal with of Nazism and Communism in the United States rather than abroad.—United Press.
