As a result of the new law, Mr.
Eamon de Valera, the Prime Minister of Eire, is now in possession of powers making him virtually a dictator.
The Government has the right, under the bill, to intern citizens suspected of activities against the State without arraigning them before a court of law.
The Senate is now considering the Offences Against the State Amendment Bill, which was carried through the final stages in the Dail last night. This measure put into permanent form the object aimed at in the Emergency Powers Bill.
