Washington, Jan. 12.
Members of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee fold the United Press yesterday that they would take no action on the proposed embargo bills against Japan pending in the House until after January 26, the date of expiration of the Japanese-American trade treaty, when they would probably await Administration leadership.
Measures on the Committee's calender consist of four bills favouring various degrees of embargo, with one demanding that the United States maintain a strict policy of neutrality in Asia.
Mr. Robert F. Rich, Republican Re. presentative of Pennsylvania. has o: lined the most drastic resolution. He demands the authorization of complete suspension of commercial relations with Japan. At the same time he desires that Congress direct the President to place an immediate embargo on exports to Japan and imports from Japan until Japan withdraws from China.
Mr. Joe Starnes, Democratic Representative of Alabama, in his resolution asks that the State Department reconvene the Brussels Conference to decide measures against Japan and he also asks for termination of the trade pact.
