Picture Brides Will Sail for Peru Hitch Delayed Departure

From Japan

Tokyo, June 2.

Nineteen Japanese immigrants to Peru, including five "picture brides" who were unable to board the N.Y-K. liner Yasukuni Maru yesterday due ¡fo a hitch in negotiations between ihe Peruvian and Japanese governments, will sail this afternoon on the liner which postponed its departure in order to give time to Peruvian and Japanese dificials to clear up the misunderstanding.

The hitch occurred yesterday when Peruvian authorities in Yokohama disclaimed any knowledge of an understanding between the Peruvian Government and the Japanese Consul-General at Lima, regarding the granting of visas to 19 Japanese immigrants.

It is understood that the Peruvian Legation here yesterday afternoon was authorized by the home government to grant visas to the 19 immigrants.—Domei.
