Paris, June 9.
"We are facing a last quarter of an hour which might prove decisive. Hold firm!" General Maxime Weygand exclaimed in a proclamation to the army today., "The German offensive is now. developing on the whole front between the Channel and Montmedy," General Weygand Said. "It will extend tomorrow to Switzetland. The order remains for everybody to fight without a spirit of withdrawal, looking straight forward from wherever he is stationed."
"The Commander-in-Chief", he added, "knows the proofs of courage which the land armies and air forces ceaselessly gave. The Commander-in-Chief thanks them for it. France will thank them even more.
Officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers, the mother country's safety needs not only your courage but the whole of your tenacity, initiative and fighting spirit of which I know you are capable. The enemy has sustained heavy losses. He will soon be at the end of his tether. We are facing a last quarter of an hour which might prove decisive. Hold firm!"—Havas.
