Bucharest, Jan. 30.
With the appointment of Herr Neubacher, Mayor of Vienna, as General Controller of German-
Rumanian trade, the Germans are making a new bid for effective participation in Rumanian industries, it is stated here.
Hitherto, Rumania has resisted the application of part of the trade treaty of March, 1939, which contemplated establishing mixed German-Rumanian companies to exploit Rumania's oil, mineral, timber and other resources. Herr Neubacher is expected to press that this be carried out. If Rumania yields, exports might be carried in Rumanian trucks. In return for i creased deliveries thereby, it is understood, Germany is offering to oppose Hungarian claims on Transylmania, and will use her influence to prevent Russian scares regarding Bessarabia.—Reuter,
