Capetown, May 8.
The utmost. enthusiasm prevailed on the opening of the voluntary national reserve register today.
All members of the Union Cabinet registered early, notably General J. B. M. Hertzog, the Prime Minister, and General Smuts, who are both over the official age of 60. They signed their names on special overage" forms.
Even persons over the age of 80 are enrolling, several of them being veterans of the German Army in the Great War.—Reuter.
