On Losing Team

In a dual track and field meeting yesterday afternoon the Shanghai American School proved nearly twice as strong as the Public and Thomas Hanbury School, winning by a convincing score of 60 to 34.

Out of a list of eleven events, the S.AS. won seven and tied one. The losers were well served by Novgorodoff, a B Class contestant, who scored three victories to become the best individual of the competition. Novgorodoff took the two sprint events and the long jump for a total of 15 points, S.A.S. placed all three boys in the 120 yards low hurdles, the half mile and the shot put. These events accounted for no less than 27 tallies Which eventually made victory so decisive.

In the 4 X 220 relay the two sides put up an extremely interesting race. The P.T.H. team lost the lead when Liass dropped behind Freeman by a margin of six yards. Freddie Ku as second leg, fought hard and cut the gap down to three yards. Nevertheless, Hipps and Hale staved off the severe challenges of Kirk and Nov-rod off respectively to win by a yard Complete results were:

Today is Champions D. with the first saddling bell at 1.15 p.m.

Given fine weather, a really good d: racing is assured, with possibly close and hard-fought race for the Champions, run in near to record time.

Magic Circle is not one hundred per cent. sound; still, if he is able to con Out today to repeat his Manda; performance, he will certainly be Starter. Other starters should be Night Express, Bober, Rain Merrylight, Democratic Prince, and possibly one or two more.

H. Maitland has to decide whether to weigh out for Magic Circle or Rain, and as I am not certain whicl of the two he will take, my forecast as to the probable winner must be Hugh Maitland, leaving the pon name out. I do not see any of t Other starters equal to upsetting these two, but I think if White Parade is in the field, he may run into a place.

Other winners during the noon may be found amongst the following:—Bagshot Wet Morn, Stolzeneck, Spring Tide, Boud: i, Soer Citylight, Busted Contract,
