London, May 9.
Much comment is devoted here to the Vatican City's initiative in various capitals in favour of an amicable set-tiement of present European problems, According to well-informed circles, the Holy See is ready to take part actively in such a settlement and even suggested the convocation of an international conference comprised of British, French, German, Italian, and Polish representatives to settle peacefully the Danzig problem and the Italian and French dispute.
Several M.P.s have announced their intention of raising the question of an international conference in the House of Commons.
Authoritative quarters declare that they know of the Vatican initiative in Paris and Warsaw only through the newspapers, but Catholic circles assert that London has been informed by the Apostolic Delegate, Mgr. William Godfrey.
