Canton, May 9.

Lorry loads of armed Japanese troops were frequently passing Shakee, going in the direction of the Canton-Hankow Railway. It is rumoured that Chinese forces are very active to the north of Canton, along the Canton-Hankow line.

Activities in Canton were brought to a sudden standstill today, when Marial Law was unexpectedly enforced again at 11 this morning.

A foreigner from Shameen informed Reuter that gunfire was audible last night, coming from the direction of the Canton-Hankow Railway.

A Japanese spokesman, in an interview with Reuter today, stated that "owing to Sunday's good results in cleaning up looters and other unruly elements, we have decided to continue A charming ensemble from "The Sleeping Beauty" which will be presented at the two final performances on May 13 and 14 at the Lyceum Theatre. to proclaim Martial Law, which can be expected from time to time.
