Home Defence?

Many Lessons Learned in Flanders; Proposals for Centralized Control

London, June 20.

More "vigorous counter-espionage measures and the formation of an international brigade or foreign legion in Great Britain were among the proposals for home defence made at a meeting of 50 members of Parliament yesterday.

The meeting passed resolutions suggesting that all means of land defence Should be under the control of the Secretary of State for War, and that the War Office should draw up a scheme covering the whole country and providing for organization for each parish which will provide men, women and materials for local defence with the best weapons obtainable in the shortest possible time.

The population, it was suggested, should be divided into producers and non-producers.
