Classification "Fit B 3" to Cover Former Exemptions Tokyo, Feb. 3.
Many men formerly exempt from military service will be drafted as a result of alterations in conscription rules which were announced on Saturday, January 27.
A new classification has been created under the name of "Fit B 3" and will include many men formerly exempt from the active list, according to the "Nichi Nichi" Almost all young men of conscription age will be given a chance to serve on that list, says the paper.
"Fit A" conscripts will have to be taller than 1.52 metres instead of 1.50 as formerly, and their chest girth will have to be more than halt their body height. Many men who look weak without any discernable reason will be branded "Fit B," says the "Nichi Nichi."
Finally, men strong physically but with slight defects, in their sight, smell, hearing, fingers or toes, will be listed as "Fit B 1" on the active list—Havas.
