To the Editor of the "Nortu-Cutwa Dany News"
Sm;—In your issue of August 6 you published a report of certain statements made by the Japanese spokesman at Monday's Press Conference, violently attacking, "On behalf of the Japanese Consul-General Mr. Miura," the explanation issued by the Acting Senior Consul of th resolution recently passed by the Consular Body.
This seems rather peculiar in view of Mr. Miura's original complaint that the publication of Mr. Keswick's letter before its receipt by the individual members of the Consular Body, constituted a grave breach of etiquette.
For Mr. Miura, or his representative, to burst into publicity with a serious charge against the hon of the doyen of the Consular Body is surely a far more serious breach of etiquette, If Mr. Miura considers Mr. Scheel' planation inaccurate, one woul imagine that the correct procedure would be for him to take the matter up with his colleagues on the Consular Body and, in the event of his contentions being supported, to insist on an amended explanation being given out officially.
A violent public attack on his senior colleague is surely neither dignified nor consistent with the accepted rules of diplomatic procedure.
Apparently another case of the pot calling the kettle black Shanghai, Aug. 8.
