To the Editor of the *"NonrH-.CHiNA Dany News Sim,—The mere fact that "the ques tion of fraudulent stamping of but-chary meat has not escaped the attention of the F.C, authorless" as replied by Monsur J. Breptan on February 17 is ample proof that my statement to this effect was not sheer imagination, As to his accusation that I failed to report this matter to the Public Health Department, may I assure him that when I wanted to do so that particular part of meat bearing the stamp was sold already. However, I am closely watching my neighbouring butcher arid should an-Other occasion present itself, believe me I wil not spare him. Should however ALTER Eco's friend like to become "interested," I enclose herewith the address of the shop in question ard if he cares to relieve me of my task, and keep himself a watchful eye on it, he will soon find out hat my contention was not baseless, As.for Arter Eco's doubting the fact of horse meat being sold in the F. C.—since it was duly stamped, why hot?- And, of course, in this case there could be no question of a falsified' stamp. Further, the fact that some people may buy horse meat, does not necessarily prove their stupidity, I would rather call it ignorance or just a matter of taste. Are there not people who have a liking for cockroaches or frogs, so why not horse meat? Actually now, buffalo meat is very much in vogue. but I would not call the purchasing of it an "extreme foolishness" either.
