After a lull lasting several months on the local gambling front, the Gambling Squad of the Shanghai Municipal Police struck successfully last right to bring about the end of another den when they raided a luxurious establishment in Nanyang Road and arrested more than twenty foreign and Chinese gamblers, both male and female. Among those arrested, there was a number of foreigners enjoying full extra-territorial rights, it was believed.
Apart from arresting the gamblers, the police also took into custody all the croupiers and other servants of the den and seized a roulette wheel, chips to the amount of several thousand and other gambling paraphernalia.
