Ruin Economically

Foochow, June 15.

Although everything is very quiet, conditions in Foochow are rapidly deteriorating.

The economic situation, especially, is deplorable, with an insufficient quantity of cash because of frozen funds, business dead, and the cost of living soaring.

Thousands of people are starving, and there are a large number of deaths daily. Curfew 's still being enforced.

Contrary to radio reports heard here, the city is not under siege by the Chinese, although there have been intermittent clashes in the hills north of the c'ty.—Reuter.
