Labour Attitude Not Clear

The morning papers have not as yet expressed their opinion as to the advisability or inevitability of a war with Russia, but publish articles on a possible extension of the European conflict either in the Balkans, the Caucasus, or Norway, in which Soviet forces might be involved.

The attitude of the Labour Party is still not clear. Followi the visit to Finland of several Lal MPs, only the intervention of a number of other members of the Party prevented the Labour Party from leading an energetic campaign against Moscow.

Foreign observers are confident that a decision will be taken mostly in view of military and strategic conditions and also on moral grounds.

British opinion as a whole dyes not wish an extension of the war with Russia, but should a new event justifying such a move arise, then most of the country would accept that British assistance to Finland should be increased to such an extent as to make a war with Russia appear inevitable.—Havas.
