Chungking, Mar. 7.
The Japanese have at present only four divisions holding the Yangtze valley between Hankow and Shanghai, with very small garrisons being stationed in key cities, according to an estimate by a foreign traveller who recently toured central Chin:
A foreign missionary walked all the way from the valley Han River to Hankow, ing a single Japanese soldier until he was within sight of the International Hospital at Hankow."
If the Chinese launch a coordinated offensive in different sectors at one time, the traveller claims, it will be very difficult for the Japanese to hold these cities.
Chinese circles, however, maintain that the time is not yet ripe for a large-scale offensive.—Reuter.
