While it appears that in "certain areas of the front the Germans are mopping-up Russians who have been left behind without munitions or food they are fighting extremely hard, stubbornly and well, it was pointed out in London today, No confirmation has yet been forthcoming of the reiterated German claim to have captured Minsk, It seems that the Germans have made powerful thrusts northeast of Minsk and are apparently trying to drive across the River Dvina, and it is possible that from this sector they might start a big drive towards Leningrad, German claims to have cut off a body of Russians in the Minsk area may be true, it was believed in London today, but there are bound to be odd pockets of resistance which, being behind the German lines, will be a nuisance to the Germans, Nevertheless, the German thrust from Minsk toward Moscow seems to be going fairly well. Military circles are of the opinion that the German drive on Kiev is meeting with extremely fierce resistance and that not much headway is being made
