Berlin, May 1.
Dombaas, strategic junction city south-east of Andalsnes, has been captured by German troops, according to the latest communique of the German High Command. The main Oslo-Trondheim railway line is also claimed to have fallen into German hands.
In addition to Dombaas, the communique says the Germans have captured Opdal, on the Trondheim line north-east of Domba: German troops are said to have advanced northward from Etta, in the Gud-brand Valley, along the railway line towards Andalsnes.
"Chancellor Adolf Hitler has sent an order of the day to German units in Norway stating that German troops have established connection by land between Oslo and Trondheim, "Thus the western Powers' intention to bring Germany to her knees by a belated occupation of Norway has been finally crushed," the communication states, "You have accomplished the mighty task which I had to impose on you. Iam proud of you. As the highest mark of gratitude I award General Falkenhorst the knight's insignia of the iron cross, I shall also decorate the bravest among you, but your highest reward is the conviction that in the most fateful fight for our nation's existence you.have. made a decisive contribution," Reuter.
