America Will Have to Join

Washington, May 12.

Whatever was intended by President Roosevelts speech at the Pan-American Scientific Congress two days ago, in which he warned Americans of danger from aggressors, it is being widely interpreted by the man in the street as an announcement that America must eventually join the war.

The Nazi attack on the Low Countries, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg seems finally to have brought home to the public that Mr. Neville Chamberlain's description of Herr Hitler was nearer the truth than they had previously realized. The President's speech has, therefore, acted like a tocsin.—Reuter.
