Mike Higgins continued the rally with a single that sent York home and Feller on his way to the showers. Pete Fox singled off Dobson, who relieved Feller, but Higgins was caught going home. Bruce Campbell followed up with another single which scored Fox from second.
The Tigers rallied again in the ninth to score the winning run and save a game which appeared lost going into the last two innings.
The St. Louis Browns defeated the Chicago White Sox tonight in the only other game scheduled in either league. The Browns turned back the White Sox in a close 7 to 6 finish despite three errors.
